The Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Nguema Obiang Mangue, has welcomed the progress presented by VFS Global on the implementation of the online visa system for Equatorial Guinea, while stressing the need to strengthen promotion of the country on the platforms associated with this service.

The improvements presented include automated assistance tools to answer frequently asked questions and guide applicants through the application process, as well as advanced technology that automatically reads and extracts information from submitted documents.

However, the Vice President noted the absence of promotional images of Equatorial Guinea on the company’s pages dedicated to this service. He recalled that the initial projection was to process 200,000 visas annually, whereas approximately 35,127 electronic visas have been processed since the system was launched on 1 July 2023.

In the Vice President’s view, these figures highlight the need to intensify promotion of the country on the relevant platforms. He therefore urged VFS Global to include content showcasing Equatorial Guinea’s tourist attractions in its new action plan.

The Government aims to link the modernisation of immigration services with tourism promotion through a platform that simplifies entry procedures, strengthens control mechanisms and helps position Equatorial Guinea as a leading tourism destination for international travellers.
