The Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Nguema Obiang Mangue, has reviewed a proposal from the Chinese company Beijing Weineng Investment, which has expressed interest in developing renewable energy projects with a total capacity of up to 500 megawatts (MW) across Equatorial Guinea.

The proposed initiatives include the construction of a 100 MW solar photovoltaic power plant as part of the overall project portfolio.

After reviewing the investment plans, the Vice President authorised the start of negotiations towards an agreement that would enable these initiatives to move forward.

In addition to their potential to create jobs and attract new investment, the projects would contribute to Equatorial Guinea’s ambition to meet its own electricity demand and supply power to neighbouring countries, strengthening regional energy cooperation.
